The Next BIG Thing

If you're my age, you can remember back in the day when your mom would stick you in those ugly overalls and you'd just have to suck it up when you go to the bathroom and know you have to get completely undressed just to use the "potty." Unfortunately, today we still have to do that BUT those jumpsuits, rompers, overalls, one-pieces, whatever you want call them are so much more chic than back in the day. These jumpsuits now come in a variety of styles from casual acid washed denim to dressy seriously structured one-pieces. Of course as every other trend comes back around from some time in the past, the jumpsuit has taken a dramatic twist featuring extra-wide legs and sexy silhouettes. Whether you want prim and proper or edgy and dangerous, there is a jumpsuit out there for you. Celebrities have already jumped on this trend train and it is about time that the rest of the public hops on it also.

Now you're probably thinking, these all look fabulous and I want one, but I can't pay the Chanel price tag?! Well don't you worry because I have some great brands that you can get the same look for a better price. I have gotten a fun and cute jumpsuit from BCBGeneration that is perfect for summer and less than $100!

Sport the Skort!

Now for every girl, I know back in the 90's when I was in elementary school my mom made me wear skorts. Back then I hated them because they just looked awkward with a skirt in the front but you turn around and surprise! they are shorts! But as everyone knows, trends always have a way of coming back around and I have personally bought and started slowly seeing skorts show up on the NYC streets. Of course this time around the skorts are a little more edgier and cooler then what I remember back in the 90's. From the many pictures I saw from Coachella to the fashion bloggers I avidly follow, the white Zara asymmetrical skort was most definitely a favorite! Below are some great skorts now in stores along with my own skort that I can not WAIT to wear once it gets a little warmer here!

I hope seeing this trendy skorts has inspired you to get back into the 90's groove and find your own! Until next time...

Style Trend of the Week

I've slowly started to see this trend popping up on both men and women's feet since being back up in the city end of January. Although this shoe is meant for heavy duty working, men and women can pair it with a plaid shirt or army cargo jacket and make it look effortless and chic. I am talking about the Timberland Boot! This tan chunky boot is such an easy boot to throw on and LA definitely influenced NYC with the start of this trend. Early last fall, the boot started slowly becoming a big trend in LA and from there it has moved to the East Coast. At first, I wasn't a huge fan of this boot because it really isn't meant to be worn casually but seeing the way people have started pairing it with cool outfits it has now really grown on me. If you are wanting a new boot for the Spring I am highly recommending the Timberland Boot!

Until next time...

NYFW Fall '13 Trends

Nothing could stop New York designers from showcasing their fall collections even with Blizzard Nemo hitting the city with over a foot of snow. Woman trucked through the freezing weather wearing stylish coats and beanies with leather boots and wedges. And as the world viewed many collections held at Lincoln Center, some trends were made prevalent for the Fall 2013 season.

Schoolgirl Chic
With collections consisting of oversized coats, jumpers, and dimdl skirts, the schoolgirl trend has everyone hoping to get into the college of their choice for Fall 2013.

Beanies
Oversized beanies are the biggest head accessory for the Fall 2013 season with almost every designer donning them on their models.

NYFW started the ball rolling with these great trends and we will only see more during LFW (London), MFW (Milan), and PFW (Paris). Keep your eyes peeled for these great trends to start showing in your nearest Neiman Marcus/Bloomingdales/Lord&Taylor early August. Until next time...

Prabal Gurung for Target!

The last collaboration Target did with Neiman Marcus ended up being a bust on the Target side. I predicted this due that the Target customer did not know many of the designers names presented within this collaboration. Now on the other side, Neiman Marcus sold out within hours because a Neiman's customer knew what a great deal they were receiving on these designer duds! Target is rolling out their next collaboration on February 10th with the fabulous designer Prabal Gurung! Now to a Target customer they might have seen his iPad case in the Neiman Marcus+Target collaboration but nothing more than that. He is not a mass production designer but rather a talented high end one. His collection is so trendy and at such great prices that I believe many target customers will fall in love with his line! From ankle-strap pumps to floral blouses his line is perfect for spring!

Now if you aren't already opening a new tab to look at the rest of the Prabal Gurung for Target lookbook I don't know what else will! Be ready to run to your nearest Target on February 10th because I predict this will be the most successful designer collaboration with Target since Missoni last year! Until next time...

Golden Globes Fashion Trends!

Now I hope everyone tuned in to watch the Golden Globes last night....but as everyone knows the red carpet is just as important as the awards show itself! I of course had to work and missed the red carpet...but don't think I wasn't following WWD, PerezHilton, and Instyle on Twitter! They were my lifesavers to see those dresses before they got all creased from sitting in those chairs during the show! There were some huge trends that appeared on the Red Carpet from dresses to makeup!

NUDE LIPS
I love how I saw so many nude lips not because it looks so classically beautiful but because you could never go wrong with it!

TONS OF SKIN
This had to be one of my favorite trends from the Golden Globes because it allows woman to show her more sexier side without letting it all hang out! From plunging necklines to push up corset like bra's, I'm sure plenty of Hollywood Fashion double stick tape was used last night!

COLORS: BLACK AND WHITE
As the woman walked the red carpet two colors stood out among the rest.....black and white. You got it ladies and gentleman it seemed to be a pretty monochromatic red carpet with rarely anyone straying away from black and white.

This year the Golden Globes didn't have as many fashion faux pas as we usually do which is great for the stars but isn't as much fun for the rest of the world....So next year I expect someone to come out in a dress as ridiculous as Bjork's white swan! Congratulations to the big wins of the Golden Globes Argo and Les Miserables. If you haven't already seen them, I highly recommend them both! Until next time...
